The importance of choosing a topic was only a small part of this semester-long project. I started with an idea, fleshed it out, trashed it, fleshed it out again, came up on the deadline, and finished it with pride.
But you have to have that ‘what if’ first. My what if was “What if Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was a parody of Victorian society?” All of Alice’s oddities and adventures were merely commentary on absurdly strict and suffocating Victorian mannerisms were.

Devon International Group has several subsidiary companies that revolve around a singular marketing department. We handle all kinds of requests dependent on the company. Some of our most recent projects include a website overhaul, an ownership brochure and a furniture catalogue.
The attached PDF is the new ownership brochure for the company Devon Health Services which was recently sold to another company. You can see more work for this company on my Behance.

Created and named after the main characters in my novel, this typeface is perfect for copy text. Thanks to the extremely talented Andy Clymer, from Hoefler & Frere-Jones, I was able to create this set in the course of a semester. Unfortunately, I ran out of time for the numbers due to the delicate nature of some of my bezier curves. (You can see that the top of the typeface is much softer than the bottom.)
The PDF attached is a sample used to test the kerning and readability. There have been no adjustments made in InDesign (short of leading) done to this. It reads as it was programmed to.

Temple University has it’s own publishing department and they often outsource the covers. We receive a brief with the details, as well as several iteration requests from the author. We then submit 3-6 cover sketches and the author chooses one. This process can repeat itself. Finally, after the author has chosen a piece we are asked to create a mechanical, for the printer.
Logos, barcodes, spine size and content must all be taken into account. It is unlikely the author realizes how much content they are trying to place in a small area, and we often have to go back and forth to get the right amount of content at a legible size.

UArts is quite fortunate to have a branding workshop each spring semester. I was even more fortunate to have been placed in a workshop with Brandon Murphy and Rodney Abbot of Lippincott NY. Through them, and this workshop, I discovered the full depth and extent of the branding process.
We only had enough time to create the logo, but as you can see from the attached PDF, a lot of thought went into how we wanted the logo to feel, and to fit in with our own personal idea of this rebrand.

While working at Rowhouse Media, a client asked us for a very extensive site including recurring events, photo galleries, tour date bookings, and a shop to sell photography. Created entirely in WordPress, using photos provided to us by the client, we customized a theme, organized the information, and built this.
You can see more screenshots on Behance. The website took around 90 hours to complete and I lead the project.

Commissioned by a client to create a printable handout from a medical website, this project actually consists of almost 200 pages of layout and hierarchy work. The original template was created (and approved) by a previous co-worker. However I was able to vastly improve upon it and make it much easier to change things globally using InDesign.
Attached is a document for the client I designed myself. You can go here to see how the documents were implemented into the website, and here to see one of the documents we worked on. The documents are fully interactive, so if you download a chapter, you will be able to open it in Acrobat and use the ToC to get to various chapter points.

Of the many pieces I have done for Devon International Group, I think that my update for our pharmacogenomic company is one of the most drastic. Almost three years old with outdated styling, I used some front end know-how to craft a fresh and clean look for this website, while still keeping most of the original content intact. It is still a bit of a work in progress, but I’d like to show off just how far a little styling can take you.
